Did you know that your lifestyle can affect how your skin looks? Surprising as it may seem, there are certain habits that you do in your day to day life that can cause you to look much older. Of course, it is known that unhealthy habits such as smoking, drinking alcohol, lack of exercise and poor diet can all take a toll on our skin.

Habits that make you age faster

Sleeping on side or stomachsleep

Sleeping on your side is the best and not to mention the comfiest sleeping position. Unfortunately, as comfortable as it may seem, sleeping on one side of your while pressing your against on pillow for hours is not good for the skin. It
speeds up wrinkles and fine lines formation on that area of your face. Sleeping on your back is the best way to sleep, but if you must sleep on your side, try to use a much softer pillow to decrease the pressure you apply on your face. And oh, make sure that it’s clean so that you will not have breakouts.

Eye rubbing

When you’re tired or when you feel like your eyes are itchy, you tend to rub it, but unfortunately, all that skin tugging and pulling on your eye area can break the tiny capillaries around it and in effect cause the surrounding skin to darken. Rubbing your eyes always also breaks blood vessels thus making your dark circles look worse. It can also speed up the formation of fine lines around your eyes because the skin around our eyes is very delicate.

Cigarette Smoking

Cigarettes emit nicotine. This is extremely damaging to the dermis because it breaks down Vitamin A. Vitamin A is necessary for the repair of damaged skin tissues. Chain smokers are susceptible to wounds that do not heal easily. That is because of the skin’s impaired ability to regenerate damaged tissues.

Overusing anti-aging products

Slathering your face in copious amounts of anti-aging creams is harmful to your skin. Applying more of these creamproducts than the give prescription can cause your pores to get clogged and make your complexion blotchy. Putting on so much product on your face can lead to redness and irritation which can just make aging signs more vivid.

Unknown to many, it is these unseemingly harmless day-to-day habits we don’t imagine can affect our skin’s aging process.
